Cinnabar Island is a large, once science-driven island that is centered around a volcano. Only one such science laboratory remains, while the others have fallen to ruin or were torn down. Now, most of its tourists come to see trainers from all over battle the reclusive and inquisitive Kanto Gym Leader Blaine.

It is dark by the time the boat enters port, and most of the town has gone to bed. The only real buildings open are the Pokemon Center and the Laboratory, where scientists are working late into the night.

A taxi cab passing by the port slows. The cab's driver pops his head out and asks, "Do you need a ride somewhere, kid? You look lost."

the kid scracthed his head " yeah im looking for a place to stay for the night for me and my pokemon i dont have that much money either " he said looking down " can you please direct me someplace i can spend the night at" his pokeon resting on his shoulder smiled and agreed " chim chim char" the fire monkey perked

The cab driver looked slightly bemused at the sound of no money, but shrugged.

"Sorry kid, I can't give you a ride, then," he said, looking genuinely sorry. "Wife'd kill me, see. But if you want a place to stay, you can head over to the Pokemon Center. I'm sure they'd put you up for a night or two."

He pointed and began explaining directions. When he was sure David understood, he nodded, tipped his cap, and drove off.

As soon as the cab drove off, however, a large form appearred out of the darkness. The form howled and made a leap for David, its teeth and claws bared.

"Vine whip!" someone shouted, and moments before the large dog pokemon could tear David to shreds, it was stopped and lifted into the air by two powerful vines.

"Sleep powder!" shouts the same voice, and a large pod flies at the enraged dog pokemon before exploding in a largepuff of purple powder. The pokemon struggles for a while before going slack on the vines constraining it.

Slowly, a figure appeared from the darkness and under one of the streetlights. He ran over to check up on the unconscious pokemon, and, without looking up, said,

"You alright there, boy?" Without waiting for David to answer, he said, "Take the Arcanine to the Professor."

A low grumble was heard in response, and the Arcanine was lifted gently and taken away.

Finally, the man turned to David. He was wearing a long white lab coat and a dark shirt and dark pants beneath. His hair was a mess, and he wore dark sunglasses, even during the night. After studying David for a moment, he said, "So. Who are you? And what the hell were you doing out this late?"

"uhm well i was " he was nervous e couldnt decide to trust this man or not chim char tried to hide behind his head he decided to let hm know where he was going " i am David Flamez i live on a house along the volcano;s side and barley got into town yesterday to get my first pokemon am going to the pokemon center to rest for the night and then take my chimchar to train a little before i take a boat to pewter city"
